Each circle represents the ton of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted* in 2018 per 0.1 degree x 0.1 degree (approximately 11 sqkm in the Philippines).
The emissions shown are within 5 km of the coastline.
*Includes fossil fuel combustion, non-metallic mineral processes (e.g. cement production), metal (ferrous and non-ferrous) production processes, urea production, agricultural liming and solvents use. It excludes large-scale biomass burning with Savannah burning, forest fires, and the sources and sinks from land-use, land-use change and forestry (LULUCF). Short cycle C emissions are also excluded.
Data: Carbon dioxide emissions (CO2_excl_short-cycle_org_C) derived from the Emissions Database for Global Atmospheric Research (EDGAR) in ton substance / 0.1 degree x 0.1 degree / 2018.
